Green Giant Juice

Green Giant Juice

Green Giant Juice

The Green Giant Juice is fulfilling in all aspects of goodness. First let me start by saying the taste from the green giant juice is intensely delicious and very thirst quenching. Besides the great taste, this juice packs some of the best nutritional ingredients to give you a very well rounded juice. The fruit overpowers the vegetables when it comes to the taste with lemon being the dominate flavor. The lemon isn’t overpowering though and brings the tang to the recipe and ties it together.

The green giant juice is made up of apple, celery, cucumber, lemon, romaine lettuce, orange, spinach and pomegranate.

The green giant juice was made with the goal of an active and physical life style. It packs a full 16g of protein that is much needed for maintaining or building muscle mass while juicing. It exceeds the daily value of vitamins A, C, and K. It also packs other vitamins such as E and B6. As far as minerals it is loaded with a majority of daily values for calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and copper. On top of all that it is a super anti-inflammatory juice! This is one juice that really packs a punch and will give you tons of energy! On to the recipe!

Green Giant Juice Recipe

Green Giant Juice

  • 1  whole head of Romaine Lettuce
  • 3  big handfuls of Spinach
  • 1  Cucumber (ends cut off)
  • 2  stalks of Celery
  • ½  Granny Smith Apple (cored)
  • 1  whole Orange (peeled)
  • ½  Lemon (peeled)
  • 1  cup Pomegranate Seeds

Now you’re face is probably making that puckered up look after you realized there is a whole head of romaine lettuce along with 3 big handfuls of spinach. The fruits compliment these flavors and hide the flavors of the romaine and spinach really well. The trick is in the pomegranate seeds. These are amazing in the fact that you can add a small amount to give any juice a complete yet wonderful flavor makeover. I found whole food places like Fresh and Easy sell pomegranate seeds. The green giant juice can also be adapted if it’s a little too tangy by removing the ½ apple completely or by using ¼ lemon instead of a ½. I do hope you enjoy the Green Giant Juice recipe; I for one will be incorporating this into my daily routine for lunch or breakfast, or maybe even both! Enjoy, and happy juicing!

  1. Hello, I have a question, I don’t want to lose weight there is a way I can drink my juices between my meals. In other words, at what time during the day is best for me to have the juices. Thank you

  2. Hello, I started juicing this morning and am going to do everything possible to stick to it because I have an extreme amount of weight to lose and health issues that I want to take control of and hopefully get rid of. I’m just wondering if having a solid meal every once in awhile is bad and I ask this because sometimes I have to travel because of my job and Dr appointments and there’s no way I can juice on the go especially for conferences. So will it make the juicing basically pointless if I’m doing it to lose weight?

  3. Hello!!

I just bought my Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer last night and I can’t wait to use it! I’ve recently tasted the Naked Juice Protein Zone Juice Smoothie and it was delicious–but expensive. I was wondering if adding soy protein to the juice recipes would be ok.

  4. My question is while juicing is it okay to continue to take your multi-vitamin? I may have missed it but what’s the caloric intake you should have while juicing?

    • Selena, it’s fine to continue taking your multi vitamin. There is no caloric intake that you should have or shouldn’t have. It’s all about listening to your body and having a juice when you feel hungry. Some people get by with 3 or 4 juices and other may need 5 or 6 to get by. Cheers!

  5. Hi Donnie, I have started juicing today and must admit i do feel a bit tired, but i have also just started back training/teaching,( i am a pole/pt instructor) so im doing it all at once, i have had 3.5 months off due to back issues and over xmas i was eating not very healthily so i am glad i found your site, the drinks taste lovely so far and i am about to do a snack one now also, i know the tiredness will improve as i fast twice per week and was the same with that when i began. Your recipes look great and the information you have given has been a big help. So thank you :-), i will try and let you know how i get on daily.

    • Kerry, welcome to JOJ and congrats on juicing! Your body will thank you for it! Keep me posted and let me know how things progress. I’m always here if you have questions. I wish you all the best this New Year! Cheers Kerry!

  6. Can you do the juice cleanse for longer than 7 days?

    • Laura, you can do the juice fast for days, weeks, and even months. I do suggest if you plan on going on longer than 30 days that you meet with your doctor around day 30 so he can assess your situation and determine your needs and health.

  7. Can u use any other apples as long as they r organic?!

  8. Hi. New to this site. Very informative. Thank you. I have 2 specific questions. I have approx. 100 pounds to lose. My diet has been atrocious. I don’t feel well physically and know I need to do something drastic. My question: If I did start a juice fast, would I just gain all the weight back right when I started eating again? Also, I have hypothyroidism and have heard something about juicing being bad for your thyroid gland. Is there anything to this? I would think that eating (drinking) in such a healthy way would help balance the thyroid instead of harm it. Thanks in advance for your input!

    • CJ, as with any change in your diet, if you go back to eating the way you did before your juice fast, of course you will gain it all back. Juicing isn’t just a way to lose weight, it’s a way to help you get on track with your diet, control your hunger, and manage what you do and don’t eat. If you stick to healthy eating habits after your fast you’ll most likely continue to lose weight.

I’ve never heard anything about juicing being bad for your thyroid though you may want to take that up with your doctor. My thoughts are that it can only be helpful to you. I’ve seen people who were on thyroid medication able to get off of their meds during their fast. So I’d have to say it’s only going to be helpful. I would still ask your doctor about it though just to be safe. Keep me posted on your success and remember that I’m here if you have any questions.

  9. Colleen

    Hi,
I was starting the Juice Diet and i was wondering can you drink green tea? I love the to go packets they use splenda in it though and i didn’t know if you could or not thank you.

    • Colleen, green tea is okay in moderation but keep in mind that caffeine is one of the things you are trying to rid your body of. When having tea, it’s best to make sure it’s loose leaf tea and not a powdered mix.

  10. Love the recipe – my wife and I have been having the drink in the morning for one week now daily and I have to say I feel like a bull :)
The wife is having a bit of a gag reflex and not enjoying the whole juicing thing like me — any tips on getting her to enjoy this more?

    • Omar, thanks for your comment. The Green Giant juice is one of my favorites for the morning. Have your wife add more lemon and it will help. She can also dilute it with water if it’s too strong of a taste overall. I wish you the best! I’m here if you have any questions.

  11. I am wondering where the 16 grams of protein comes from?!?

    • Osa, the protein comes from the Romaine Lettuce and Spinach. The Romaine has about 8-10 grams and the Spinach about about 6-8 grams. Hope this helps!

  12. I have not juiced in a couple years so I thought I’d better refresh myself. I have a question. I have a ninja blender and an Oster. The ninja is new, how much difference will it make using the blender, I know there will be pieces of the veggies in it, is that ok too?

  13. Hi! I love your site, as I am a new juicer. I’m hooked! I like the sound of your green giant juice.. Just wondering where the 16g of protein comes from.. The pomegranates? Thanks again!

    • Mirta, sorry for the delay in my response. My spam catcher caught your comment along with nearly 100 others as spam. I’m working to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the comment! There are a lot of veggies that contain protein. Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, even some of the fruits have protein. Hope this helps. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  14. What do you recommend to use as a replacement for the pomegranate? I can’t seem to find any.. Unless I use pom juice but I prefer to juice it myself. I will start a 21 detox this up comming week and I am looking for more recipes..

    • Naomi, raspberry is a good replacement for the pomegranate. You can also use blackberry if you want a more sweetened taste. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  15. Hi! I’m new to juicing…my chiropractor said it would be beneficial to me. I bought the juicer and am looking for recipes! Just wondering if juicing is used to lose weight. I have a significant amount of weight to lose and am looking for a long term lifestyle change. Do you follow a low calorie diet after the 2 week fast?

    Thanks!

  16. I have me,and since I stared juice I feel great thank you.

  17. Today is my first day to juice. I had all the ingredients here except pomegranate seeds. LOVED it, though. I threw in a few red grapes with seeds. Not the same, but it was still amazing. SO glad because I really feel like I can do this thing now. The lemon is the key, for me! Delicious!!! Thank-you for this site and the recipes and ideas and hints and tips!

    • J, I’m glad you enjoy the site and really glad you decided to start a juice fast! Congrats on day 1! Pomegranate seeds are good but grapes make the perfect substitute. Keep me posted on your fast, I’ll be here if you have any questions. Also, it would be a good idea to post on the forums (http://www.justonjuice.com/forum) to get some support from other juicers, and to see others juicing just like you. Enjoy!

  18. I made this juice today and really enjoyed it! I like to make a quart and a half to 2 quarts at a time and I doubled the romaine, spinach, apples, lemon & cucumbers and got about a quart and a half…thanks for sharing this recipe-I had not juiced pomegranate seeds before!

    • Thanks Troye! I’m glad you like it. Once I discovered pomegranate seeds I started adding them into everything. They sure do pack some amazing flavor! Have a fantastic rest of your day Troye!

  19. Hi I love this site its SOOOO helpful .. Is there something I could use besides cranberry seeds I cant find them …

    • Thank you Melinda! I’m sure you meant to say pomegranate seeds :) You could replace those with POM pomegranate juice, raspberries, or even a little bit of grapefruit if you want. Try one of those out and let me know how it tasted. Enjoy!

  20. Lady, this juice makes about 20 ounces using a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor. You would most likely be getting more juice using your milk bag and vitamix. You might want to try halving some recipes to get a better idea of how much juice you will really get.

  21. This is a great recipe but I feel like the amount of veggies would make enough for 2x 16 oz drinks using manual milk bag & vitamix method for juicing. Could you include the serving size and method you use? Type of juicer etc… Thanks for sharing all this information!
